Improve your golf game while also taking care of your body!

The most common golf injuries in order of prevalence according to Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) research are low back, shoulders, knees, hips, wrists, ankles, and elbows.  Estimates suggest that more than 50% of golfers will develop chronic injuries, with the top five most common reasons for injury in order of prevalence being: (1) Poor general body mechanics, (2) poor golf swing biomechanics, (3) excessive practice, (4) lack of a customized exercise program, and (5) poor nutrition.  All of these can be addressed, reduced and/or eliminated through physical therapy.  Thus, golf-specific physical therapy can help a patient avoid being in the 50% chronic golf injury statistic.

Cristy Wells, PT, DPT, PE has a Medical Level 2 certification through TPI.  She also has a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering, so she is uniquely qualified to objectively examine biomechanics and the reaction forces/torques that can cause stress on the body.   While Cristy is not a golf pro, she can complement their work.  Cristy will analyze body mechanics and swing characteristics to ensure the most efficient and effective swing for YOUR body, with the primary focus on any physical limitations:  Working on mobility and strength limitations can translate into an improved golf swing while also reducing the risk of injury.

Cristy’s golf swing analysis involves three components.  First, she performs a physical screen to determine current mobility and strength.  Second, she records a slow-motion video of your golf swing to break down swing characteristics and identify areas needing improvement.  Third, she performs a 3D analysis and biofeedback training using K-Motion equipment/software to assess body movement and compare to peers and pros.
